Trash Cymbal
I am trying to sound proof my basement the cheap way. I have 100 saved egg cartons. how do I do it?
I have a basement with my drums and amps in it. I need to sound proof because of the nasty concrete the sound bounces off of and makes, especially when I hit my cymbals. I have neen saving 100's of egg cartons over the years. Now I just need to figure out how to put them on the wall to absorb the sound so my drums don't sound like trash cans!!?
Anybody got any advice for basement better sounding instruments?
I have probably answered this kind of Q a dozen or more times,,,PLEASE don't.
Cheap is relative to your budget obviously, SOUND Deadening is NOT going to be accomplished by egg cartons. Better to recycle those. No offense.
AIR and mils thick styro are not at all effective. Though the Conical shape is a key.
Construction grade Cellular foam sheeting is better, Studio, conical foam is better still. The insulating foam sheeting is not oppressively expensive, and is a Nice color, LOL.
Beyond that, fabric is a great sound absorber, deadener, Upholsterd furniture helps, Carpet and padding help, as might, doing something with the ceiling.
I'm curious: Is this to create a better sound for YOU? Kill the sound that others will hear anyway? OR for any recording purposes?
