question about tama iron cobra double pedal?

alright, so i've been debating for awhile now about if i should get a double Bass Pedal and last week my iron cobra jr. broke (not a huge disappointment, it came free with my old Drum Kit) anywho, im seeking advice from anyone who owns an iron cobra double, and you take off the second pedal to make it a double and go back and fourth? im just not sure if i want to commit to a double pedal if i never use it and have to carry around twice the gear as a single.

Yeah, of course it's detachable. The bar that connects the two pedals has to be detached to fit it in the case.
