How to Make Wood Swing Sets For Your Kids
Having wood swing sets in your very own backyard can bring in many hours of adventure and fun for your kids, not to mention fond memories of their childhood years in the future. If you want to provide your children that joy of playing in their own wood swing sets, you can now build Your Own set from scratch.
Package or plan
You will need to firstly determine if you want to purchase the entire package deal or just a plan. It will be an easier purchase decision if you buy the package deal but you end up shelling out a lot of money because all the work is done for you. The other drawback is that you end up receiving inferior quality of wood in the process of opting for package wood swing sets. It is much cheaper to buy just the basic plan and you get all the necessary accessories required. You also get a complete list of all lumber needed to construct your own wood swing sets.
Durability of wood
It is important that you choose wood quality, which can hold up to inclement weather and extreme climates through the entire year. There are two different kinds of wood namely redwood and green treated and these two variants of wood swing sets would work well in holding up to outdoor bad weather.
Material list
Whatever plan you buy, it needs to have a comprehensive listing of all required materials. If you are building your own wood swing sets by yourself, the mentioned materials as part of the list are perfect to build the basic version of wood swing sets. You need to take the two boards and keep them on a flat area, one over the other. Then start drilling holes after every 32 inches or so and then screw both boards together. Make sure to drill on both the sides as this ensures a better grip between boards. This will constitute the upper beam.
Connectors
Next, you need to access the connectors for posts and place one in either end of the upper beam. Drill the holes after marking and attach the connectors onto the beam. Move the pieces of the wood swing sets to an area where it will actually be placed. This avoids having to shift it later on. Drill holes onto the post and attach these to the front legs, and the back onto the connectors of the post.
Leg bracing
You need to add the bracings on the legs. This ensures stability and strength of the wood swing sets. Once the wood swing sets stand firmly without wobbling, add the bracing to the legs on either side of the set.
Attachment
The final stage to making your own wood swing sets is the attachment. All big stores, which sell these wood swing sets have directions and hardware for correct installation. After attachment of your wood swing sets, you are free to enjoy it with your kids!
