Is Tap Water Really Dangerous to Your Health?
Is tap water really dangerous? Is tap water a health threat? These are not trifling questions. Most people have no idea as to the seriousness of our drinking water situation. I truly thought that everyone had heard or read the many reports about how harmful our reservoir system has become.
Just in case you personally haven't heard about the danger of tap water, read this short article. You may be shocked at what you find out.
Scientists have known for years about the dreadful state of our water supplies. There is said to be around 80,000 available chemicals that at one time or another, and to some extent or another have found their way into the water that we drink. 2,100 of these chemicals are known carcinogens.
Possibly it is because I’ve done so much research on the subject that I was caught off guard by being asked is tap water really dangerous. I really didn’t realize that the people around me, that I have thoughtful and intelligent conversations with all of the time didn’t know what danger that they and their children were in. Do you?
There was a time when we didn’t have to worry about contamination in our water supply. In the early 1900’s for example, the average person had around a one in 50 chance of contracting cancer. Now, just over 100 years later your chances are one in three, one in two if you are a male.

Is tap water Dangerous? I am almost certain that you will find the numbers that I just gave you to be fairly definitive proof as to just how dangerous it has become. You would think that in the hundred years since we began using chlorine disinfection as the method for sanitizing our water that someone would have come up with a better idea for cleaning our most precious resource.
The truth of the matter is that our methods of water filtration have not advanced on the level of mass water treatment. We are still using the same old horse and buggy system that was in place back then, despite the fact that proven technology for purifying our water is there.
The Choice We Have
Now we know the answer to the question: Is tap water really dangerous? We also know that the treatment facilities are not going to take any further measures than they are already taking. So then what do we do?
Simply this: We have to buy a water purification system for our homes to remove these dangerous impurities.
What You Personally Need
You will need a filter that incorporates activated granular carbon working synergistically with a multi media block to block the chemical contaminants, a sub micron filter for parasites and bacteria, and an ion exchange for heavy metals. Ion exchange will also mineralize your water, and adjust pH levels.
The filters will effectively block 99% of the contaminants that attempt to enter your home. Two ways to filter water are: (1) A Whole House Filter System. This filters all the water before it enters your home. (2) A Point of Use Filter. This is a filter in your shower and on the faucet, usually the kitchen faucet. I use both models. My logic that the point of use models may just pick up the 1% that my whole house filter missed.
