THE SHOW
There is a moment in Slade's marvelous film 'Slade In Flame' when drummer Don Powell tries to contribute to a band conversation only to have singer and frontman Noddy Holder ball at him "goalie... stay in goal!"
That moment might well highlight the general lot of the drummer. There are websites (and we're not going to mention them here.. oh go on then.. we might later).. dedicated to drummer related jokes.. some of which might even find their way into our show... we are not averse to a bit of self depreciation.
However in many ways, the drummer sees all, MAURICE and MATHEW certainly have and 2 DRUMMERS DRUMMING brings them together to trade stories from their vantage points in the music business from the 1960's to the 1990's up to the present time.
CREATING 2 DRUMMERS DRUMMING has been an experience in itself and will be the first time that MAURICE and MATHEW have done anything like it, where they will be taking centre stage. Edinburgh is certainly a challenge and the show will also record some of that journey
DAILY GUESTS
One of the challenges that we have set ourselves is to get a different special guest to appear at each performance. As well as trying everything they can to get the likes of RINGO, CHARLIE (Watts), and (Phil) COLLINS to join them, they are also approaching the likes of legendary drum roadies...(no, really these guys are great characters and have some great stories) and what you might call non-professional drummers, i.e. drumming isn't their main source of making a living, like Jeremy CLARKSON, JAMIE OLIVER, AL MURRAY(Pub Landlord) and others
We'll be keeping you up to date on our progress on the guests front via the blog etc.
