how do i become a famous drummer?
ok so ive been drumming for like a year now but im really good, i can play fast songs like stuff travis barker plays, so yeah i can play really fast, but i also like slower, simpler stuff like beatles and weezer and everything in between. i can play double bass and even triple bass. i have an incredible Drum Set with black paiste-alpha cymbals. but i have no band, i just started high school. how do i find a band? where do we practice? i dont want to move my drumset everytime wenever we practiced together. so basically i need a bunch of info on how to get a band, info on other band stuff, and how to get gigs and get famous. thanks

what do you mean "get some better cymbals?" have you seen and heard the black alphas? i think theyre pretty good, and see no reason to get any new cymbals at the moment unless they crack or something? if you really think i need something "better" then what do you suggest?
Find some kids about the same age that like the same music as you and who play instruments. Start a band with them. Here's how to find bandmates at your age...
1. Craigslist - musician's community. Post an ad. Make sure you specify age and ability.
2. Start hanging around the HS marching band kids. Yes, I know they are geeks, but you'd be surprised at how many of them play guitar and have nice equipment. You can work on their image later. Lots of Rock Stars were marching band geeks and they just dont admit it.
3. Take drum lessons from a private teacher. It will only make you better and he can hook you up with other students to jam with. If you dont want to do that, find a local guitar teacher and tell him you want to jam with some of his students your age. He will probably hook you guys up.
When I was your age, we used to practice in the garage. The neighbors always called the cops, as a weekly ritual. There's no way to avoid hauling your drums around. Quit whining... you wanted to be a drummer, genius. That's why drummers usually offer their own house for band practice or they buy a van. If you have a nice set, make sure you invest in cases. For gigs: I dont know if youngsters do this anymore, but we used to find someone who had a backyard and put on a party there. We'd pass out flyers introducing the band, charge two dollars admission, and usually have a couple of kegs in the backyard. We'd get through about 4-5 songs and the cops would show up and break up the party, arrest a few people for underage drinking, and cite the adults who lived in the house... btu we didnt care because we made our own gig. Just use your first few years to get good and practice, because its hard to get consistent gigs before you're 21 anyway because most venues serve alcohol and are prohibited by law from you playing there. Anyway, have fun. Buy some better cymbals too.
