What are some good single bass drum pedals for Bonham style?
I am looking for a single pedal to swap my cheap double Bass Pedal with. I think the double is too modern and overall just too easy (and is almost a waste for me). I love playing zep stuff and have noticed I end up doing double bass techniques with one of the pedals and never end up using both. I also like using the hi hat pedal as well so I can't play double and use that. I am looking into the Ludwig Speed King as I hear that is the one Bonham used. Anyone have any other suggestions or opinions on what would be a good choice. Also, does anyone have experience with the speed king? I am looking for speed for the double bass style as my current pedal just isn't fast and has barely any tension.

The Ludwig Speed King is a simple pedal. It `s the drummer who has the foot on it that will give it the punch and dynamic. That is a good pedal and you are correct to assume that Bonham (R.I.P.) used Ludwig exclusively.
As for the double pedal, I asked my drummer what he thought about DW. He says the DW 2008 was one of the best pedal for endurance, quality, but, expensive. That is what he uses in the studio.
But, he added that, the reason he doesn`t use Ludwig at the studio was because he wanted to conserve them. LOL
