What is a good rock Snare Drum?

I am in a new Rock/Alternative band, and my snare drum just isn't doing it. I need a good cheap snare drum with a really loud crack to it and no ring after I hit it. I was looking at the Ludwig Epic Snare. Is that good? Please help!

The Joey Jordison Pearl Signature snare is probably the best snare out there in my opinion, it has a really nice crack, and no ring. The only problem is, if you don't like slipknot, you'll have to deal with the slipknot logo on the side of it, but i think its worth it, its sexy as hell and has a really nice pop/crack sound to it.
