How much should i charge for drum lessons and when should i charge?
well i am an experienced drummer and want to teach drum lessons. i am really good with kids and dont want to charge too much so i have more students. 1. should i charge every session? if so how much? or should i charge every week??
A fair price, from the point of view, of both a parent, and a musician myself, is $10.00 for a 30 minute lesson.
You can offer a special if they will pay for lessons in packages. For example $100.00 up front for 3 months of lessons, which will give them 2 weeks of free lessons.
If they miss a lesson, keep the price the same. Otherwise, it will get too hard to keep track of. This will help them commit to showing up for each lesson, and will enable them to become better drummers.
Packages also ensure that they walk away a satisfied student, being able to show off their newly acquired talent. They will be more likely to refer others to you. Don't be shy to ask your students for referrals, as long as you are giving them the results they are paying you for.
One last bit of advice...keep the lessons all about them. You may be a really good drummer, but be careful not to spend time showing off your talents to them. I fired a master guitar teacher because he centered his lessons around his great talent, and did not know how to meet the needs of his students.
