want to make a animal skin hand drum what do i need to do with the raw hide?
I want to make a hand drum. And i need to no what i Have to do with the raw hide ( right off the animal) be for i make it in to a drum. If any one can give me step by step directions that would be grate. I also have a rabbits foot i would like to turn into one of those key chain foots
You've got a lot of work ahead of you to get an animal hide prepped and ready for the tanning process. I'm giving you all the links for the process to prepare the hide to be tanned. You didn't say what type of animal skin you'll be using, but these links cover the most common types of animals. The tanning process can be done a couple of different ways these days. The different tanning methods are covered as well. The animals brain can be used to rub lots of fat into the skin to soften it before flushing the remaining hair and blood away using a dull knife or something similar that won't tear the skin.
