What Are the best drumsticks to use for durability?
i go through like two pairs a week how can i reduce break them and or which sticks are the most durable?
Two pairs a week!? Holy crap, sir, you are a beast.
Unless they've made major strides in drumsticks recently that I'm not aware of, then any sticks that aren't made of wood are just a gimmick. I had a friend who actually got some metal sticks one time and wow, that was a bad idea.
Of course they make sticks out of harder woods but usually those are designed for snare work, not for set playing. I assume you're playing a full drumset when you break all these sticks?
Your best bet is to find a width and weight of stick that you feel comfortable with (not thinking about breakability yet), decide if you like wood or plastic tip better, and just commit to stockpiling for the inevitable breaks.
But if you're truly breaking that many and that often, then you may also consider slightly changing the way you play. Drop your high-hat a bit so you're not chipping away at the side of the stick. If you lift up your left foot a tiny bit, make sure more of the stick hits the top of the high-Hat Cymbal, then you'll still get a really full sound without chipping away. I can't imagine any reason you would need a drumstick to hit into the very edge (a sharp perpendicular hit) of the cymbal.
