Who play drums on the studio version of Paul Simon's song Outrageous (Surprise)?
I see both Gadd and Dimaggio listed in the album credits but when someone told me this was him on this track I didn't believe it. I've been a Steve Gadd fan for over 25 years and this just didn't sound like him. Does anyone know specifically it is him on the Outrgeous track?
ThinkAboutThis, is correct, Robin DiMaggio & Steve Gadd, both play drums on the album. I have seen a few different talk show of Simon performing the song "Outrageous", I have seen both Gadd and Dimaggio play the song at different times.
Both are exellent drummers, I prefer Gadd, he has been one of my favorite percussionists for many, many years.
Gadd is playing the drums at the beginning (and through the whole song) of "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" I'm sure your familar with the song, listen to the drums at the beginning again though, that is classic Steve Gadd.
Gadd, also played a lot for "Steely Dan", check out their song "Aja" that again is Gadd. Great work in that song.
