Learning The Drums Online
Learning the drums can be a very difficult process. Without the right instruction in the first place it's difficult to know exactly where to start. It's very important not to miss out the initial steps as it can cause very serious setbacks in the future. Trust me I know.
Holding the drumstick
The first step when learning the drums is to learn how to hold the drum sticks, it's not just a case of holding them in the most comfortable position as the most comfortable position may not be the most versatile. Make sure the stick is in the palm of your hand with your thumb pointing upwards towards the tip of the drumstick. There should also be about an inch at the bottom of the stick that comes out beneath your hands. When you grip the stick you don't need to hold on as tight as you can, just tight enough so they wont fall out of your hands. They still need to have some slackness to them so you will have faster movement.
Single stroke roll
The first technique any drummer should learn is the single stroke roll. The single stroke roll is the first of the drum rudiments. Drum rudiments are a set of sticking techniques that every drummer should learn, rudiments will help you progress a lot faster if they are learned properly. This is very simple and may seem easy but it's important to master this first step before moving on. The single stroke roll is just a simple right, left, right, left with the sticks. It's best to do this on the Snare Drum at first. When you can play right, left, right, left simultaneously then start with the left hand (left, right, left, right), this will help with your left hand coordination and strength.
Following simple steps from the start will Make Your playing really improve in the future. You will be surprised how much quicker you will be able to pick up certain drum techniques by thoroughly learning the drums online first.
