How do i keep my tom tom drums from echoing?
i have remo drum heads and everytime i hit them they sound like deep, african bongo drums. I watch other people with similar drum heads and they just make a small noise and stop, no echoing.
PS. if you are going to tell me to mess around with the tuning don't bother answering. But if you have some kind of special way of tuning, i will be glad to hear it.
ok this isnt all ill say, but it really does have to do with tuning. make sure the skins are tight. also, if you havnt yet, try loosening or tighting the resonant (bottom) head. this can make a difference.
another thing you can try is putting a few pieces of electrical tape on either head. i say electrical tape cause its a little heavier than most other kinds of tape and its easy to take off if you decide its too much. how much you put on will determine how much muffling you get.
however, if tuned correctly, you shouldnt need the tape
