i'd like to get more sound out of my guitar amp?
so right now i have a fender mustang 2, it's about 40 watts and can get pretty loud but i'd like to get just a bit more sound out of it, i was wonder if i could plug in some sort of stereo speakers into the aux. FTSW, or even the headphone jack to make it a bit louder. right now i can get enough sound to play small room gigs and be heard over drums but for larger gigs in bars and stuff like that i'd like a bit more volume.
The aux. jack is most likely for running a CD or MP3 player into the amp, allowing you to play along with it over the amps speaker. If it says AUX OUT than you could run that into a separate input on a stereo or P.A. But it will NOT power a pair of speakers.
The FTSW jack is for a footswitch, it only functions to change between the amps channels and only with a standard footswitch.
The Headphone out jack is specifically for a pair of headphones. It will only run a set of basic headphones at very, very low wattage. No where near enough to power a separate speaker. BTW, connecting to the headphone jack DEACTIVATES the built in speaker.
The best way to get more volume out of the amp is to simply put a mic on it and run it through the P.A. system. This is how professionals do it. I recommend using a Shure SM57 placed right on the grill cloth slightly off center of the speaker. Run it into an empty channel on the P.A. and turn it up as needed. You may find that you can actually turn your amp down a bit and let the P.A. do more of the work. This will give you more than enough volume and control over your sound.
