How to protect snare drumhead?

I have Pearl Forum, new kit. I haven't replaced the drumheads, although everyone says that pearl heads suck and they should be replaced asap. Well I 100% agree the heads suck especially bass and snare heads. But I can't afford it now. I've used the kit for a month and I already see the center of the snare(top) head becomes very dirty, and the paint(or whatever it's called) goes off it. I know it will break eventually but for now I want to know if there's a way to protect the head from scratching and cracking too fast so it lives little bit longer.

theres not really a way to protect it...just hit it til it breaks and then get money to get a new one. i have a Evans drumhead.
