What cymbals should I get?

I have a Tama Superstar Drum Kit but the cymbals I have with it are pretty crappy. If I were to say money wasn't an option, what would be the best hi-hat and Crash Cymbals to get? I was going to get AAX sabian hi hats and crash because my drum teacher gets them directly from a dealer so he doesnt mark it up for me
but then my friends dad who is a drummer said it would be completely ridicules to get anything besides Zildjian New Beats
Please help me!
Oh btw I play mostly rock, i do a little jazz and and funk and whatnot but if the cymbals aren't good for rock then they arent good for me!

I'd say stick with these brands of cymbals & you wont be disappointed

Sabian
Meinl

Ziljian has some good A lines, but they are really expensive.
Also, Paiste has the 2002s and Signature ones too.

Me personally as a drummer of 23 years. I've owned nothing but Paiste cymbals from 1988 on through 2003 I when I last sold my 2002s. I also had a Tama Superstar kit as well, but I had the one from the 1980s one, not the newer ones out now.

My advice to you is simply go down to your local Guitar Center or whatever music store in your town is and try out as many cymbal brands as you can. Because in the end, you HAVE TO BE HAPPY with the sound because you are the one buying them...not someone else. IF you find a brand you like...hit up Ebay and see if you can get them used too....that also works for drummers with little cash.
